Welcome back to Pennsylvania… Finally, our last ride form Cleveland to State College. Tomorrow morning is our flight and tonight we sleep in a Hotel. The whole roadtrip was awesome! A very nice experience, especially with the couchsurfing, which turned out to be great!

The next post comes from one of the airports or home! To those I meet at home: I am looking very much forward!! For the others: Thank you so much for this great time here!!

Cleveland – Home of Rock’n’Roll!

We couchsurfed again, this time with Emily, who is currently doing her doctor’s studies and was a very good couch-host! She had little time and so had we, but we made the best of it and had a delicious breakfast with hazelnut coffee and Nutella

We used our limited time to see the University campus and – of course – the Rock’n’Roll Hall of Fame and Museum.

That is one cool experience. We stayed almost four hours in that museum. We were not allowed to take pictures inside, but some impressions here:

The weather wasn’t good, we left Chicago pretty late and reached Cleveland at 10:30pm. But what to do? Was nice. By the way, we finished 1290 miles by now and (obviously) crossed the mark of 1111.1 miles on the way

Chicago is so beautyful! We stayed the first night in a (very) cheap hotel and then went to our couch-host Mark for the next two nights. It was so cool! He made us feel like home, had great advices what to do and we had much fun together. For example in a small bar around the corner, where an open-mic-night took place.

The first evening was reserved for the Navy Pier by night. It can’t be better at daylight! We went there right after we have been to the famous Gino’s pizza restaurant.

On the second day we spent all the time in the Museum of Science and Industry, which is not like looking at things, but you can play around with everything, touch it and see it all working. It is great and one of my favorite museum so far!
Then we met Mark, had a homemade dinner and went to that bar mentioned above.

On the friday we had a river and lake boattour, went on top of the Willis tower, which is the tallest building in the western hemisphere (103 levels) and had a gigantic view of the city! Then we walked the Millenium Park and headed back to Mark’s appartment where we spent the evening with him, a glass of wine and talking about “god and the world”

Today, we left right after breakfast and headed towards Cleveland, which took almost the whole day, because we started pretty late.

Not too much to say about the trip. We saw lines of schoolbusses and stopped (like always…) at MacDonald’s to have free wireless. On the way we could make an arrangement with a couch-host in Chicago, with whom we will stay the last three days in Chicago.

And then …. a dream came true I saw my first real Dodge Viper SRT … WOW!!!

Indianapolis, the world’s home of Motorsports…

We stayed in a hotel and at first relaxed a bit from the drive and then went to downtown, where we walked a little around and explored the city.

Right after that we had a cool dinner at O’Reillys Bar and Restaurant and stayed there for a while.

The next morning was reserved for the Indianapolis 500 Speedway. Unfortunately it was raining and the testdrives for the Indy500 qualifying and race next respectivelly over next week didn’t take place. But we have been to the Hall of Fame, where almost every winner’s car since 1970 is shown. See the pictures!
